Steamed Broccoli

Nothing fancy here. Just a cheap, easy, fast side. That is, assuming you’ve hit a somewhat adult-like phase in your life where you own a steamer.  Plus, steaming broccoli is healthy, as it preserves most of its nutrients – Vitamin K, A and C, fiber, potassium, folic acid and more.


What you’ll need:

  • Broccoli and steamer


  • Bring a few inches of water to boil in the bottom part of the steamer.
  • Throw broccoli into the steam basket (is that what it’s called?)
  • I removed from heat after 9 minutes, but let’s say 7-10 depending how you like it. I like mine a vibrant green where you can stick a fork in it easily, but it’s not mushy.
  • I plated it right away so it wouldn’t continue to cook – and then sprinkle some flavor on top depending on your spice cabinet.  A little salt or a flavored salt. I happen to have some truffle salt from the Filling Station so used a sprinkle of that and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese (but note, that adds dairy/non-Whole30).
